Who I Am

I'm M. Balandari Toroghi, a Mining Engineer and Rock Mechanics Specialist with 7+ years of experience across underground mining, rock mechanics, geotechnical engineering, mineral exploration, and tunneling projects. My professional experience has included rock-mass characterization, laboratory testing, ground stability assessment, underground excavation analysis, and numerical modeling.

Alongside my engineering work, I have developed a strong interest in mining digitalization, data analysis, and Python programming. I use these skills to translate rock mechanics and geotechnical workflows into practical computational tools for rock-mass classification, laboratory data analysis, visualization, and technical reporting. My aim is to connect engineering knowledge with reliable, reproducible, and useful digital solutions.


What I Do

  • Develop Python-based tools for rock mechanics and mining engineering applications.
  • Analyze and interpret rock mechanics laboratory data, including UCS, BTS, triaxial, direct shear, slake durability, and porosity testing.
  • Apply rock-mass characterization methods including RMR, Q-System, and GSI.
  • Support underground excavation and tunnel stability assessment through geotechnical analysis and numerical modeling.
  • Automate engineering data processing, visualization, calculations, and technical reporting.
  • Build practical graphical interfaces and data-analysis workflows using Python and scientific-computing libraries.

My Approach

I approach engineering software from an engineering perspective first. I focus on clear methodologies, transparent calculations, reproducible analysis, and practical usability. The goal is not simply to automate a calculation, but to build tools that make an engineering workflow easier to understand, repeat, document, and review.

I also recognize that computational tools support engineering judgment rather than replace it. For rock mechanics and geotechnical applications, results need to be interpreted alongside geological conditions, field observations, laboratory evidence, and engineering experience.
